Sight
Unseen Series (1989 - 1992)
These images do not necessarily derive from
an observable world, but stem from a belief in the legitimacy of the
“magical”. The paintings push to more spiritual concerns,
perhaps motivated by my own heightened sense of mortality and the fragility
of life after becoming a mother. Overtly symbolic and even mystical,
these paintings explore the nature of seeing and knowing. They stand
at a margin of consciousness between that which is known and that which
is felt; between objective analysis and intuitive understanding; between
science and art.
